Haidy Song was born in Koreatown Los Angeles and grew up in Glendale, California. She is proud to be a first-generation college graduate from an immigrant family. Haidy knew she wanted to become a teacher when she worked as a Program Leader in an after school program in Lincoln Heights, where she taught reading, art, cooking, and photography. She transferred from Pasadena City College and earned her bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies at California State University Northridge. She is currently completing her master’s degree in education at University of California Los Angeles where she is focusing on social justice in education. Haidy is fully committed to culturally relevant pedagogy where she pledges to validate the unique identities of her students, build critical consciousness, and cultivate a community of learners in her classroom.
