Kaitlin Ison was born and raised in Los Angeles. She received her B.A. from UCLA in Linguistics and French. She is currently working on her teaching credential at CSULA. At UCLA, she volunteered with Project SPELL, a program that pairs students with housekeeping and janitorial staff on campus to help them with their reading and writing skills. After graduating from UCLA, she worked with Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes as a clinician, where she was trained in their methodology for teaching phonemic awareness and reading comprehension. For the past three years, Kaitlin has worked with middle school students as an after-school homework mentor, where she helped her students funnel their energy into productive tasks. She also tutors students who are struggling with reading. Kaitlin hopes to specialize in teaching reading so that she can share the magic of reading with a new generation of students!
