Growing up in Detroit, Michigan, Rena Winton earned her BFA in art education with a focus in graphic design from Kendall College of Art and Design in 2011. She is well versed in making contemporary art accessible to diverse TK-12 students. Her passion for teaching visual art through community engagement, social justice, and contemporary issues helped her win the 2016 Frank McCourt Prize for Excellence in Teaching. She also helped several of her students earn awards from California Youth Art Month and the nationally recognized Scholastic Art Awards. Rena is an active member of both the California and National Art Education Association and is currently earning her Masters of Art Education from OSU. Most recently, Rena developed the New LA Summer Art Intensive and has been elected to the California Art Education Association board as the Elementary Division Director.
