February/March Updates

February and March were very busy months for us at New LA Elementary.  We celebrated Black History Month, Dr. Seuss’s Birthday and Vietnamese New Year.  For Black History Month each class studied a particular theme and focused on African American Achievements past and present on that theme.  We welcomed parents into the classrooms to share their own experiences and cultures and we culminated the event with an assembly to share all that we had learned.

To honor Dr. Suess’s birthday we celebrated Read Across America Week.  We welcomed guest readers to the classrooms, enjoyed Books and Pajamas Night at the school and dressed up as a our favorite book characters. For Vietnamese New Year our very own Mr. Tran taught us about Vietnamese culture, the significance of the Lunar New Year and gave a lesson on how to use chopsticks.  It was so much fun and we learned a lot!

Finally, on March 21st we held our enrollment lottery and are looking forward to welcoming our next class of new students.  If you are interested in enrollment please click the enrollment tab above for more information.
